Petroleum is a natural occurring yellow-to-black liquid found in geological formations beneath the Earth’s surface. It is commonly refined into various types of fuels. Components of petroleum are separated using a technique called fractional distillation i.e. separation of a liquid mixture into fractions differing in boiling point by means of distillation, typically using a fractionating column.

During 2017 oil industry in Thailand exported petroleum for 149,553.98 million baht and had a continuous growth rate of 36.31 percents from 2016. Thailand oil industry performs functions such as exploration, drilling, pipe laying and transport to the refining and eventual sale of finished petroleum products.
